Meeting Event: Future Flows: Undergrad Day

We invite all undergraduates to join us at the SoR Annual Meeting on Wednesday October 28, 2026 at the Hilton Park Plaza in Boston. This targeted single-day initiative is designed to lower the barrier to entry for undergraduate students into the exciting world of rheology - exposing them to cutting-edge research fields and diverse career pathways in rheology and soft matter - and providing important networking and professional development opportunities.

A few spots are still available for this day long event. Today is the last day to register!

SoR and ASTM’s Subcommittee on Rheology (E37.08) will meet Monday following the afternoon sessions (about 5:45PM) in The Loft, (lobby level) All interested parties are invited.

The goal of this meeting is to engage both academic and industrial participants. We will not discuss ballot results/negative comments, voting matters, or other official ASTM business.

“A good chunk of my time is spent in the lab, developing new materials and formulations for personal care applications...I work on products people use every single day. So, when a friend mentions their conditioner feels greasy or their shampoo is too stringy, I love thinking about those kinds of problems. Once you get into the habit of looking at the ingredients on the back of a bottle, you can’t really turn it off - the people who know me know that if I ever get lost in a grocery store, they should come find me in the laundry or conditioner aisle....”

Future of Rheology Virtual Seminar

We invite you to join us for the monthly virtual Future of Rheology seminar series on Thursday, October 15 at 1PM EDT

Alex Rispo Constantinou | University of Naples Federico II + Université catholique de Louvain
Entropic phase separation in polymer–vitrimer melts

Abstract:
Vitrimeric polymers have recently been proposed as a reprocessable alternative to thermoset plastics. Their potential recyclability stems from the dynamic covalent bonds forming the polymeric network: vitrimers are solid-like at low temperatures, but flow when heated...

Surendra Padamata | Penn State University
Symmetry and Memory in Non-Brownian Suspensions

Abstract
Steadily shearing a non-Brownian suspension forms a memory of direction in its structure, while
periodically shearing it forms a memory of amplitude. Our experiments show that these memories coexist and compete within a limited memory capacity...
