Nominations for Bingham Medal, Metzner Award and SoR Fellowship
Nominations are now open for three prestigious honors. Please consider nominating your deserving colleagues. We welcome applications from the full diversity represented in The Society of Rheology Membership. The awards will be bestowed at the 79th annual SoR Meeting, October 25-29, 2026, in Boston, MA.
Bingham Medal Award
The Bingham medal is the highest honor of the Society of Rheology. It has been awarded annually since 1948 to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the field of rheology.
Arthur B. Metzner Award
The Arthur B. Metzner Early Career Award is bestowed upon an individual who has distinguished themselves in rheological research, rheological practice, or service to rheology.
SoR Fellowship
The SoR Fellowship status recognizes a history of distinguished scientific achievement, a significant technological accomplishment, and/or outstanding scholarship in the field of rheology. Service to the Society is also an important component to Fellowship status.

Student Leadership Opportunities
Do you have an interest in a leadership position within the Society of Rheology? We have two positions for your consideration.
1. The Society is seeking a student member to serve in an advisory role on the Executive Committee by broadly representing SOR student interests.
2. We seek a Student Member to serve on the Community Development Committee.
The term for both positions is Jan. 1, 2026 through Dec. 31, 2027. Applications are due by December 15, 2025. Thanks to Elise (Chuqiao) Chen and Arshiya Bhadu for service in 2024-25!

Funding Opportunity: NSF/CASIS Solicitation for Research on the International Space Station
For your awareness, NSF and CASIS have released their annual joint solicitation for Transport Phenomena Research on the ISS to Benefit Life on Earth. We are soliciting research projects in the general fields of transport phenomena, manufacturing methods that employ transport phenomena, and resulting metallic materials, metal nanostructures, and ceramic materials that can utilize the microgravity environment of the ISS National Lab for research that will benefit life on Earth.
Step 1 Feasibility Review Forms (3-pages) are due on 1/12/2026. Full proposals (invitation only) are due on 3/4/2026. More details are available in NSF solicitation 25-529
