We invite all undergraduates to join us at the SoR Annual Meeting on Wednesday October 28, 2026 at the Hilton Park Plaza in Boston, MA to discover the wonderful world of rheology!
This targeted single-day initiative is designed to lower the barrier to entry for undergraduate students into the exciting world of rheology - exposing them to cutting-edge research fields and diverse career pathways in rheology and soft matter - and providing important networking and professional development opportunities. Through structured and unstructured sessions and activities, undergraduates will be immersed in the vibrant SoR community and begin to think....I’m a rheologist.
Register by September 18 to secure your spot for this free day-long event at the SoR Annual Meeting!
How would you describe your typical workday? As Global S&T Portfolio Manager at PPG, I work at the intersection of technology, strategy, and business growth. My day-to-day responsibilities focus on managing and continuously improving PPG’s innovation portfolio and new product introduction processes...
On Wednesday September 16th, at 17:00 CEST, we will hold the 6th seminar of 2026. The speaker is Valeria Garbin (TU Delft, The Netherlands) who will speak to us about:
We invite you to join us for the monthly virtual Future of Rheology seminar series on Thursday, September 24th, 2026, from 1–2:00 PM EDT.
Seyed Mohammad Hosseini | University of Nebraska-Lincoln Rheology and Thixotropy of Colloidal Gels: Tunability and CNN Prediction Abstract: Attractive colloidal suspensions can form space-spanning, interconnected networks that give rise to soft solids known as colloidal gels. Their rheology is strongly history-dependent, exhibiting thixotropic behavior in which viscosity evolves with prior shear and microstructural changes. In this talk, I present a simulation-based study of thixotropy and anti-thixotropy...
Nan Hu | Princeton University On the measurements of viscoelastic fluid in capillary breakup and contraction channel flow Abstract: In this talk, I will introduce two problems involving viscous and dilute viscoelastic fluids. The first is how to correctly measure the relaxation time using capillary breakup extensional rheometry (CaBER). The second is how to measure the pressure drop of a viscoelastic fluid flowing through a contraction, and how the relaxation time affects our interpretation of the dimensionless results….

The Future of Rheology seminar series is accepting abstracts for presentations scheduled between March and August 2027.
We welcome submissions from researchers working across all areas of rheology and related fields. If you are interested in presenting your work, please submit your abstract using the form below:
Submission deadline: September 26, 2026 For any questions, please contact: futureofrheology@rheology.org Jiye, Student Representative, Society of Rheology
Do you want to share the fun and excitement of rheology with the world? Be a VIRAL rheologist! Let’s make rheology cool and viral!
Submit a short video for a chance to win prizes and the love from your neighbor’s kids. After pre-screening, your video will be posted on the SOR social media accounts (Instagram and Facebook). The posts with the most likes by October 24, 2026 will be the winners. Winners will be announced at the 97th SoR Annual Meeting in Boston and featured in News Flows and the SoR website.
