Guidelines for Nominations

The 2026 Bingham Medalist will be selected by the Bingham Award Committee, currently chaired by Randy Ewoldt, and confirmed by the SoR Executive Committee. Nominators will be informed of the outcome shortly thereafter. The 2026 Bingham Medalist will be named publicly on the website and in the Rheology Bulletin. The 2026 Bingham Medal will be presented at the 97th SoR Annual Meeting, October 25-29, 2026, in Boston, MA.

All nominations must be submitted using the form below and include:

  1. A nomination letter from someone other than the nominee.
  2. A two-page summary containing: (a) a brief scientific biography, (b) a review of those accomplishments upon which the nomination is based, and (c) a concise evaluation of the importance of the nominee’s contributions in advancing the science of rheology.
  3. A curriculum vitae of the nominee with publication list.
  4. No more than three supporting letters that address the nominee’s contributions.
  5. A 50-word citation, written by the nominator, which would be used in the event the nominee receives the award.
  6. A high-resolution headshot of the nominee suitable for publication. The headshot should be at least 400 pixels wide and 500 pixels high.

Unsuccessful nominations may be reconsidered in a subsequent year, after which nomination packages need to be resubmitted.

All nominations are subject to the following rules:

  1. Only one active Bingham nomination per nominator is allowed. Note that an unsuccessful Bingham nomination is active for the following year.

  3. A nominator should not write a recommendation letter for another nominee in the same year.
