Field Application Scientist (UK Base preferred, Serving EMEA)

About the Role
RheoSense is seeking a Field Application Scientist (FAS)/FSE to support customers across the UK and the broader EMEA region. This hybrid role combines scientific application support with hands‑on technical service, ensuring customers can successfully adopt, operate, and optimize advanced microfluidic viscometry technologies.

You will install and maintain instruments, deliver scientific training, troubleshoot complex issues, and collaborate closely with R&D, engineering, and commercial teams. This is a high‑impact, customer‑facing role with significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape scientific workflows across leading research organizations.

You are a scientifically trained professional with deep experience supporting advanced research technologies. You excel at field‑based problem solving, communicating clearly with users, and translating scientific needs into practical technical solutions. You thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy working directly with customers to ensure their success.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience with scientific instruments or analytical technologies
  • 5+ years in a customer‑facing technical role (FAS, field service, technical support, etc.)
  • Based in the UK or surrounding areas; able to travel 50–60% across UK/EMEA
  • Proven ability to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation
  • Strong understanding of scientific workflows
  • Excellent verbal communication and training skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently in customer environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD
  • Prior FAS or Field Service Engineer experience
  • Background in viscometry, rheometry, or fluid dynamics
  • Experience supporting customers across multiple EMEA countries
  • Familiarity with CRM/service platforms (HubSpot, Salesforce, ServiceMax)
  • Multilingual (German, French, Spanish, Italian)
  • Strong project management experience

Key Responsibilities
Scientific Applications Support

  • Deliver training, demonstrations, and workflow consultation
  • Translate complex scientific concepts into practical applications
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to researchers and technical staff

Technical Service & Engineering

  • Install, configure, and maintain instruments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Train users and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards

Customer Success & Solutions

  • Act as the primary technical/scientific liaison
  • Provide customer insights to R&D and product teams
  • Support sales and business development with technical expertise
