Seeking photos/videos/remembrances for SOR Centennial
In October 2029 the Society of Rheology will celebrate 100 years of “everything flows”! In addition to a memorable Centennial Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, the Society is undertaking many exciting projects to commemorate and celebrate a century of proud history and progress. Special articles and issues in the Journal of Rheology and Rheology Bulletin will provide perspectives on rheology’s past and future, and we are expanding our efforts to document the Society’s people, history, and impact over our first century. We are seeking contributions from our members to help with these efforts.
We invite anyone who has SoR-related photos, videos, reminiscences… and is willing to share them as part of our publicity, history, and centennial celebration activities to upload them here
You’ll be able to find all of this content on our shiny new website that we are launching this fall. We hope these activities will inspire the SOR community as we enter a second century of exploring the science and engineering of deformation and flow.
We would like to invite you to join us for the Future of Rheology seminar series on Thursday, Set 25th, 2025, from 1-2 PM EST. This session features two speakers whose work explores the link between microscopic structure and macroscopic rheology in particulate suspension systems, through innovative experimental and computational approaches respectively.
- Kalpit Bakal (Eindhoven University of Technology) Extending Capillary Micromechanics for Studying Viscoelastic Behaviour at Microscopic Scales
- Mingyang Tan (Northeastern University) Structure and Dynamics of Frictional vs Frictionless Colloidal Gels

We hope you can join us for these engaging and complementary perspectives.
Best regards,
Future of Rheology Organizing Committee

Postdoctoral Position – Rheology of biomimetic adhesive emulsions
We are looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join us at IRPHE and IUSTI (Marseille, France) to work on the rheology of biomimetic adhesive emulsions. The work will be mainly experimental and includes advanced rheometer characterization and microfluidic flow measurements. The recruited postdoc will join a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, and interact with researchers in the field of machine learning for rheology and active mechanics of living tissues.
The position is funded under IMI AMU’s Call for Post-doctoral Projects: https://institut-imi.univ-amu.fr/en/calls-for-projects-offers/our-opportunities/call-post-doctoral-projects-ndeg6
