Pebble

I sit here, a pebble
sheer gravity keeps me down
come like a child
kick me around
pick me and see how far
I can bounce on water
for a moment or two
make me fly!
Vivek Sharma writes verses and essays in English and Hindi. He is the author of a book of poems titled Saga of a Crumpled Piece of Paper (Writers Workshop 2010), and has published work in Poetry, The Cortland Review, Muse India, Cha, and Lumina, among others. Rheologists know him as a professor of chemical engineering at the University of Illinois, Chicago, with an interest in everything that flows.
